About Me
Kai San Lei is an assistant editor and editor based in Los Angeles, California. Lei has always had an immense passion for video and film production starting as early as the age of 9. He first started learning video-making with online tutorials and by experimenting with a family-owned digital camera. This passion for creating content early on led him on a path to pursuing filmmaking as his career.
After graduating high school, Lei decided to pursue filmmaking through university. He studied Film Studies at College of San Mateo then transferred to California State University, Northridge. During his time pursuing higher education, Lei made sure to try different positions in filmmaking, and he later reaffirmed his love for post-production and film editing.
During his time in university, Lei also started self-learning other post-production related softwares like Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve to further his skills.
He eventually earned a Bachelor's Degree in Cinema and Television Arts Film Production with the Editing concentration from CSUN as well as an AVID Media Composer Certified User Certificate. While attending university, Lei also began his professional film career at an independent studio based in Northridge.

While his time there, Lei used the knowledge he learned at school and brought it to the forefront, delving into feature film editing as well as other technical aspects of post-production. This opportunity gave him first encounter with the colorful world of cinema.

Lei aspires to continue his career now that he has obtained a higher education as well as some professional experience, hopefully continuing to strengthen his skills as a filmmaker by obtaining more real-life experiences.
